Who we are
MassageMapSA (massagemap-sa.co.za) is a free directory of massage therapists and spas in South Africa. We are the "responsible party" for the personal information described here. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].
What we collect
- From people who list a practice: your name or practice name, location, treatments, prices, availability, phone and WhatsApp number, email address, website, bio and up to three photos.
- Automatically: basic technical data such as IP address (used for spam protection and rate limiting) and standard server logs. We use cookies only where needed to run the site.
- From visitors who only browse: nothing beyond the technical data above.
Why we use it
- To review your listing and publish it on the directory so the public can find and contact you.
- To email you about your listing: confirmation, approval or decline, and your private edit link.
- To keep the site safe and prevent spam and abuse.
- To contact you about related offers. When you tick the consent box on the listing form, you agree that we may contact you by email, phone, WhatsApp or SMS about products and services that may help your business, such as advertising and featured placement on this site, website design and hosting, and other business services from us or our partners. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out, and you may do so at any time.
What is public
Once approved, the details in your listing are shown publicly, including the phone number, WhatsApp number, email and website you provide. Do not include anything you do not want published. Your private edit link is never shown publicly.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with service providers who help us run the site (for example hosting and email providers), and where the law requires it. Those providers may be located outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your listing for as long as it is on the site. If you ask us to remove it, we delete it from the site and from our records, unless the law requires us to keep something.
Your rights
You may at any time:
- Edit your listing using your private edit link.
- Ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw your consent, including consent to marketing, by replying "stop" to any message or emailing [email protected].
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Security
Listing data is stored on a secured server in a private folder that is not reachable from the web. Private edit links use secret tokens. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is completely secure.
Children
This site is for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page with a new date.
